In 2001, By The Woods,

Custom Landscaping was formed. 

In our early years we focused exclusively on water garden installation as well as installation for larger landscaping firms.  As our company developed, we found a need to design and build more distinctive landscaping, landscapes that more accurately met our vision and the needs of our clients.  Over the next years, we began to develop a reputation for quality landscaping, fair pricing and unique landscapes that came from really listening to the needs of our clients and stretching the limits of traditional materials.

In 2010, we were presented with the opportunity to take over the installation division of Lotus Lawn & Garden in Chanhassen, MN.  That relationship began a journey towards the development of our retail store.  By 2012, as Lotus owners, Jay & Peggy Kronick, decided to retire, our relationship had grown to be a trusted friendship.  We were honored to be able to continue the legacy that Jay & Peggy had created of the home town garden center in Chanhassen.  In December 2012, Lotus Lawn & Garden closed its doors and By The Woods opened The Garden.
